Our commitment
CarKings Automotive is committed to providing a website and a service that are accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We recognise our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth), which makes it unlawful to discriminate against people with disability when providing goods, services and facilities, including online.
We aim for our website to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). This is the standard recommended by the Australian Human Rights Commission for digital accessibility in Australia.
Conformance status
We believe the website partially conforms with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means some parts of the content may not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively working to fix any issues we find, and we review the site whenever we add new pages or features.
What we have done
- Keyboard access. All navigation, menus, the photo viewer and the quote form can be used with a keyboard alone, and a “Skip to content” link is available at the top of every page.
- Visible focus. Links, buttons and form fields show a clear, high-contrast outline when they receive keyboard focus.
- Colour contrast. Text and interface colours have been checked against WCAG contrast ratios in both the light and dark themes, including text over photos and dark sections.
- Responsive, resizable layout. Pages reflow to a single column on small screens down to 320 pixels wide, and text can be zoomed to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Clear structure. Pages use headings, landmarks (header, navigation, main content and footer) and lists so that screen reader users can move around easily.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images have descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
- Accessible forms. Every form field has a visible label, required fields are identified, and error messages explain what needs fixing and are announced to screen readers.
- Reduced motion. Animations are switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Light and dark themes. The site follows your device’s colour preference, and you can switch themes using the button in the header.
- Accessibility toolbar. The round button with the accessibility symbol in the bottom-right corner of every page opens a toolbar where you can enlarge text, change contrast and saturation, switch to a dyslexia-friendly font, highlight links and headings, use a reading guide, stop animations and enlarge the cursor. Your choices are remembered on your device. The toolbar is an optional extra and does not replace our work to make the site accessible by default.
- No time limits. Nothing on the website times out or requires a fast response.
Other ways to reach us
You can contact us in whichever way works best for you:
- Phone: (07) 4520 4300, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Email: office@carkingsautomotive.com.
- National Relay Service: if you are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech or communication impairment, you can contact us through the National Relay Service. Choose your preferred access point and ask for (07) 4520 4300. For example, TTY users can call 133 677, and Speak and Listen users can call 1300 555 727.
When we come to you
Just let us know what would help when you book. For example, our technicians can explain quotes in plain language, read them aloud, send them in writing by SMS or email, allow extra time, or call ahead when they are close.
Known limitations
- Job photos. Some photos of past jobs have short descriptions rather than detailed ones. They are illustrative only, and all the key information is also available as text.
- Third-party services. Some features depend on outside services, such as the delivery of our quote form and the accessibility toolbar, which is provided by the open-source Sienna widget. We cannot fully control their accessibility, but if one causes a problem, you can always phone or email us instead.
Compatibility
The website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge on desktop and mobile, and with common assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers and voice control software. It is built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and its core content remains available if JavaScript is turned off.
Feedback
We welcome your feedback. If you have trouble using any part of our website or service, or have a suggestion for improvement, please tell us. Include the web page address and a short description of the problem if you can. We aim to respond within five business days and, where possible, to provide the information or service you need in another way straight away.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can make a complaint to the Australian Human Rights Commission:
